Junes Cocktail: Penicillin
What's Inside:
American Malt
Lyres
This unique spirit has been impossibly crafted to capture the essence of a gently mellowed American Classic Bourbon Malt with flavours that are distinct and contemporary.
To Taste: Generous flavours of vanilla and toasted nuts with herbal notes providing a complexity, offset by a long mellow finish. The gently spiced palate results in the flavours remaining well after finishing.
Bouquet: Honey notes, with scents of sweet spice and charred, cedary oak.
How To Enjoy: Enjoy with your favourite premium mixer such as cola. A natural for classic cocktails including the Old Fashioned or an excellent Boulevardier with Lyre’s Aperitif Rosso and Lyre’s Italian Orange.

We caught up with the team at Lyres....
You’ve recently repackaged - tell us a bit about that…
We’ve changed our product names to make it easier for consumers to shop the flavours that they know and love. As the non-alcoholic category has grown, it’s not permissible to use the world “alternative” to describe our products so if you’re a bourbon drinker it’s easier to shop Lyre’s Bourbon Alternative.
Our bottles are now lighter in weight, contain no plastic seal or cap and are fully recyclable!
How would you describe the flavour profile of American Malt to someone who’s never tried it?
In three words: Complex, smokey, smooth.
Are there any surprising ways bartenders or customers have been using Bourbon Alternative that you didn’t expect?
I’ve been seeing a lot of bartenders mixing Bourbon Alternative with traditional bourbons for low ABV cocktails which has been cool. Otherwise fun rifs on old fashioned’s have been popular like a smoked honeycomb old fashioned.
Whats your favorite way to drink the Bourbon Alternative?
My personal preference is in a sour or a Penicillin
Are you exploring more alcohol-free spirits or have any new experimental spirits in the works?
Not really at the moment, we do have an exciting launch at the end of the year in time for Spring but our core focus is driving our existing products .
You’ve just picked up 12 medals at the World Alcohol-Free Awards and were shortlisted for Non-Alcoholic Brand of the Year, tell us about that and how you feel this contributes to the industry.
Very chuffed to have done so well and further cement Lyre’s as the market leader for non-alcoholic spirits when it comes to accolades. I think it’s great that there are more awards and competitions exclusively for our category, it helps grow exposure and consideration.
